R50/53 Fresh Air actuator does not actuate when button pressed
Fresh Air actuator does not actuate when button pressed
Hi, I own a 2006 type S (CheckMate) with auto air control unit.
These are the symptoms
1. When initial A/C start, the fresh air flap closes to the recycle position automatically but the recycle light DOES NOT turn on.
2. When pressing the recycle button, the light turns on, flap does not move,
3 press recycle button again light goes off, but flap does not move.
4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 several times, same results.
5. All other vent settings all work fine
5. Turn MINI off, fresh air flap opens to outside air
Next are diagnostics with scanner.
6. Do a LED check, all lights work
7. Do a LCD check no response, but lcd displays fine in normal operations, might be a scanner issue,
8. Set the recycle actuator via scanner to activate, the recycle light turns on but no actuator movement (outside of initial start behavior as stated above on step 1)
9. Set the recycle actuator via scanner to deactivate, the light turns off but no actuator movement.
10. I have reset the AC control unit via scanner , but it has no effect on this condition,
11. Tests of AC control unit show no problems or codes
12. if I disconnect the actuator, the scanner shows an error code stating fresh air actuator fault, open circuit (if i recall correctly)
my next step would be to try a used control unit,
if that shows no positive results, i then try a used actuator.
has anyone else experience this odd behavior?
can anyone shed some light?
Thanks in advanced for ANY recommendations, opinions or solutions.

u can see the air mix plate and actuator behind the glove box, which comes out pretty easy. The arm on the actuator may have disconnected.
The actuator is replaceable.
also the control panel can be replaced with new or used
