Rebuilt or Performance R53 S Engines?

Hey all, I'm about to start a teardown to see why my engine blew on my 2005 R53 S, but I'm curious, is anyone building rebuilt or performance W11 engines these days?
I'd like to make sure it's bulletproof this time.

All I can say is what ever you decide to do get it tuned after. I blow my engine because I did not get a tune after making changes. After that I made sure of the tune was done. I have not had any problems since.

^ What checkers said. Once you make serious changes to a 1.6L engine it's critical that your AFR is correct otherwise a too lean condition will make it and the money you invested go BANG!

After you make serious changes to...ANY...engine, the AFR must be correct !
The ignition timing must also suit the driving, fuel situation, for best results.
