R50/53 Clear Tail Lights
Clear Tail Lights
I have been looking into getting a set of clears for my 03 are the aftermarkets on eBay any good, or should I look for OEMs?
Also if a change to a clear taillight do I need to change the socket board too? I saw this only on esc tuning that says it’s for the clear tails are they different?

Good lord. ECS needs to get someone to proof their product pages.
“Clear lense”
“Bulbs are solderied in place from the factory.” (No they aren’t?… Or maybe they are? That’s weird)
It looks like maybe it’s the same part as the regular lights, but it has bulbs that are soldered in place? If true, that’s pretty stupid.

The bulbs are indeed soldered to the board on clear tail lights. But you can easily break them free if you heat up the solder. It's just a little tack. The idea was to prevent people from replacing the bulb with the standard (wrong) clear bulb means for red tails. But that won't be a problem unless you find a set of used OEM or more NOS which I think is gone forever. You won't get bulbs if you get the eBay TYC version. It can be up to $200 alone for correct Osram Diadem bulbs.
