Name this and does this for sure mean ????

These fell out from somewhere BUT where ? 2x of them, they fell out when I was hammering the lowering balljoints, 1x fell out from each side. Where do they go ? They look like a cover to sooooooomething.
also while replacing my clutch I've found numerous of these ,what I will call , Heat tabs.. I know they fall off if the head or block has been overheated BUT does that then mean THIS IS NOT the original engine ????? Are there any numbers anywhere on the block , head, ect I could check and compare to my vin to see IF it is indeed a different engine..
Im leaning on it is , lol both my cars will have had engines replaced prior to my ownership then. But I inspected the tops of the valves and there was nooooooo buildup at all. I've used few fuel conditioners since buying the car but noooooo wayyyyyy could they have gotten the valves THAT clean , no way.. and my odometer reads 176,000 so you'd expect atleast minor build up. But NONE...
Guys ????

Those go on the ends of the crush tubes, if memory serves.

Edit: Or maybe they’re on the subframe side where the crush tubes attach. I can’t remember which.

ModMINI says they're used for assembly at the factory, and not needed

Yes, they're for somewhere on the crush tubes.

I love these kinds of posts!

I found an entire ratchet/socket laying on top of the front, bottom plastic cover after dropping a screw and looking for it! SMH. Makes me wonder...
