Words not necessary.

 I smile everytime I meet up with a MINI on the freeway. We just line up and motor till one of us reaches our exit.

just getting in it...

I love the backfiring, the scream of the supercharger, short shifting from 2nd to 3rd, feeling the tires break loose in a controlled way(hopefully), the looks, the stares from across the street, the roominess, the HK system, the...

Hmmm... I knew all my research, planning, and artful scheduling prior to purchase would pay off! The MINI will be paid for, (and I can then run away from home), a full 1.5 years before my oldest reaches "driving age" .

Wish I coulda learnt manual transmission driving in a MINI! (as it was, my first vehicle was an 11 year old VW microbus (1967 model year, white on green, split windshield, bench front seat - I need another thread for my VW stories, but suffice to say I got to be Very Confident in the Snow, driving various buses and bugs - amazing creatures those, with lots of personality too).

Anyhow, I am facing facts now, (that I have spoiled offspring, who happen to LUV the MINI). This can't be MY fault, can it? I'd wager that they will be a mite "particular" about the cars THEY purchase down the road, after being so fortunate early on. Are you gonna say THAT is my fault too?

The feeling I get driving. It can't be described (I've tried), and it certainly wasn't there in my MX-6 or Jetta (although the 76 Chevy Nova I endured in high school comes close - kidding).

I think part of it is knowing that I chose my car to be exactly as it is, part of it is the confidence of knowing that my car can do more than I will ever ask of it, and part of it is being totally comfortable with it and not worrying about what other people think.

Then there's sharing waves with fellow owners, and chatting with strangers (although I think I should just get a t-shirt that says: "about 28 miles per gallon" so I can stop answering the one question that gets on my nerves. It's not an economy car!).

And, of course, being able to share all this with cool people on NAM.

My favorite aspect of my '02 MCS is comparing it to my 1967 MCS.
New Mini has all the handling and fun of the original Mini with
the modern refinements including safety features.
I walked away from a 75mph accident 3 weeks ago in my '02 MCS.
Totaled the car. '05 replacement MCS ordered right away. Due in late Feb.
