Hi All,

I have a couple of errors on my old Mini R50. I have seen a few writeups on here but I am still not sure what the problem is.

The two errors are 832 (P0340) and 5E19. (screengrabs below)





I don't feel anything wrong with the car when driving. On the dash I have the ABS warning light and the engine management light. I can clear the faults but after a bit of driving (say 20 miles) the ABS light and Engine Management Light will come on. If I leave it and keep driving, then on some days the ABS light will disappear, just leaving the Engine Management light illuminated. It appears that the ABS light seems to 'reset' itself, but the EM light is latched in an error state until I clear it with the INPA tool.

A little while ago I replaced the Camshaft Position Sensor and it seemed that all was well for a few hundred miles. Maybe I had a faulty sensor and the new one is also faulty (seems unlikely). I have tried disconnecting and reseating the ABS connector. No difference there.

Not really sure where to go from here - any advice would be greatly appreciated!

 

check Fuse 03 under the hood. 5e19 usually comes with dsc issues and limp mode and or steering angle sensor too. This has actually been popping up more and more lately and even in the last 3 months I have fielded stuff on these codes. There was a 5e19 not long ago like last week too.


Any brake work done lately? Pads, Speed sensors etc? Sometimes faults with other sensors or assemblies can throw the 5e19 too as the faulty item is not responding correctly over the canbus. Try putting the old Cam sensor back in. Real NTK sensor? I am reading that the Cam sensor issue can throw the DSC 5e19 issue as well. Lots of info on this it seems I googled around and read a few threads so have a look. Google the Cam code and the 5e19 code with r53.
