I have an airbag error so I'm trying to remove and clean the electrical connector but it doesn't just slide off. Does anyone know how these are removed?

 

It appears that the two green tabs on each side need to be depressed to remove the plug. Maybe not much help but also wanted to include that you should DEFINITELY have the battery disconnected when working with the airbags.

There are no simple tabs to press like usual. There is some sort of other locking mechanism.

 

look at video, is not for Mini but is same connector type

Was at a salvage yard pulling a '03 dash and could not remember how I disconnected the steering wheel airbag connector. I figured it out just like in the video.
