Steering Angle won’t stay calibrated after Chrono upgrade

I am doing a Chrono pack upgrade for a friend and the Steering Angle Calibration won’t hold after the key is re-cycled. His car is an 06 S Automatic.

The new Chrono was programmed with INPA by a trusted mechanic with NCS-expert experience. He also has INPA for codes.

After install, I reset the lights and codes and then calibrated the steering angle. If I don’t turn the key off, I can drive and get no lights or codes. As soon as the key is turned off and car is driven again, I get the following codes and I can verify the Steering Angle is -1440. In fact, I can calibrate it to 0, turn off the key and check it without moving and it always reads -1440.

5E43-Abs/Dac- Steering angle sensor- Internal
0B-LWS Sensor/vehicle allocation incorrect or not available

I swapped the chronos with my 06 S Manual, and neither one would work in each other’s cars, but I didn’t reprogram them with NCA-expert .

Last detail is the alignment is off a little (Steering Angle of +4-5 on Foxwell when driving straight on different types of roads). Could that be part of my problem?

my car kept throwing a steering angle sensor code because of the VIN mismatch

So do have a constant DSC and Low Tire light on?

Here are my findings when I installed this Chrono-pack into my '06 R52 JCW earlier this year

1) The mileage on the cars odometer will change to read the new center dash cluster's mileage, I went from 108,000+ down to 84,694 miles
2) My TPS or flat tire monitor light is always on now, I can not turn it off with the reset procedure
3) My DSC light is on all the time as well, throws a code saying VIN is different between old & new instrument cluster
4) Also have other codes in the speedometer cluster, and the steering angle modules because of VIN difference's, I cannot clear the codes at all
5) My back up warning system, or PDC system does not work anymore
6) I don't think the "Check gas cap" light will function either, I drove around for a while with the gas cap loose, light never came on
7) I had to get another dash bezel with the chrome rings because the NAV system takes a different bezel
8) All gauges in the Chrono Pack do work when I plugged the instrument cluster into my car. All the dash lights work and dim as they should.

One last question. Do you have an automatic or manual? I did this upgrade to a few manuals and the lights go out after steering angle is reset.

My son is a dealer technician and used his Autel scanner to do the steer angle calibration and it worked and stayed calibrated. Took it for a drive, shutting it off every few miles, and everything works as it’s supposed to.

Apparently the Foxwell SA calibration doesn’t work for Mini’s. I was doing some reading and the Foxwell, Schwaben and C110+ don’t always work for SA calibration. The weird part is that it will calibrate the SA on my 06 MCS.

Good news it it’s fixed and going back to my friend.
