A not so amazing revaluation....
Had my 380cc Siemens injectors installed now for only four/five days. Installed them with a full tank of gas.
Been checking my fuel consumption 2wice a day to and from work = 26mi roundtrip (6.5mi hwy @70+/-mph. 6.5mi city @45-55mph).
For years, w/OEM 330cc's, I averaged a disappointing 21mpg. With the 380's my milage jumped 3.5mpg to 24.5-25mpg. As stated by others "The ECU should adapt". I can only imagine the gains I hope to achieve after I have it "dialed in" = tuned.

Wow, that's impressive. Glad they're working for you. Still with the cooler plugs? Am anxious to get my 380s installed. Need to get a couple of kinks worked out before I can get it on the road.
Congrats on the upgraded JCW injectors. I did this to my old '03 back in 2005 and the car felt good. Issue I ended up having was that the car was still tuned for the 330 injectors (only found this out when i installed a wideband o2) , so the cold start would be super rich until the O2 sensor turned on and started pulling back injector duty cycle. Also, WOT my AFR was high 9's to low 10's. Once I got the car tuned for the larger 380cc injectors, the car felt a lot peppier, and I stopped running super rich on cold startup. Also, double check your MPG with a fill up - dividing total miles driven by gallons filled as my MPG's via the computer was overly positive (computer reads duty cycle of injectors to calculate MPG and now injectors shoot more fuel).

My nose tells me I'm not running rich anymore as I was with the 330's...Why?
. I will rely on a tune to confirm rather than my novice senses
. My initial (inexperienced rationale), would have me believe more fuel = richer + lower mpg. It will be interesting to have a tune reveal/properly adjust/optimize it's accuracy. I've always relied on my fuel gauge to tell me how I'm doing with respect to fuel consumption. At fill up with the 330's; I consistently averaged 84 - 87mi at the first quarter of a tank below full - according to the fuel gauge. Currently w/380's I got exactly 100mi at the first quarter of a full tank (again, according to the fuel gauge). With fuel prices hitting $4+/gal today....I need something to feel good about ....

Not really worth reading - (FWIW)....
It was never my goal/intention to install the Siemens 380s' for fuel economy
As expected; Definitely noticeable response and performance at high rpms.
After 4 full tanks w/380s', I can confirm my milage has improved from w/330s'= avg 217-223mi/tank vs w/380s' = 230 mi/tank.
Still running colder "7" plugs. Significantly less carbon residue at plugs and tail pipes.
Very happy so far...Yet-'still haven't had it tuned.

I'm re-reading this and other related topics WRT injectors, since I remain clueless what were installed in 2006 when all performance mods were professionally done (details in my own thread topic, so I won't repeat those here). With the engine being reluctant to to start cold (usually takes 2-3 cranking sessions, then blubbers until temps rise), my suspicion is they're larger than 380cc and probably 550cc which is much larger than I think practical for street-driven. If actually that large, seems also likely a custom ECU tune was involved (in combo with hotter cam and/or cylinder head).
In order to find out, I'd need to remove the water-to-air IC with associated coolant lines to gain access to the fuel rail cover and rail. At that point, unsure if I could determine what size injectors were installed by the plastic housing color but suspect so, since sprayer nozzle end with o-rings engage while the remainder of the injector remains outside. If so and from pics on this forum and online suppliers such as WMW, I should then know what was installed without going further. I see the 380cc are pastel blue-grey and seems 550cc are black. Is that correct and consistent on Bosch and Siemens? If so, would be helpful. Since that work was performed by a BMW dealer long before Chinese knock-offs, little doubt what was installed back then are genuine brand.
At that point, I'd know whether to order a set of 380cc injectors or (ideally) just have my ECU re-flashed to JCW 210hp specs. If that, not the most-local MINI dealer from my lousy experience late last year with modded R53 but instead, ship it to WMW and have Way Cooper's guys dial it down to JCW spec. Not especially cheap at $300 but I believe the results can be trusted as done right. WMW for JCW ECU Tune R52 R53 Cooper S If I get lucky, no need for costly new injectors but just the re-flash. I'm simply pondering all this now while driving the R53 a little bit most weeks. Open to comments and suggestions...
