It's a long read (but interesting, I read through the whole thing). I think the conclusion was the standard injectors for the Volvo turbo 5-cylinder (S5 engine? Not sure) are identical in performance, although you need to shim your intercooler with a few washers. The spray pattern, angle, electrical connectors, etc... are all the same otherwise.

Might be worth a look if you don't want to spend the 400 or so for new injectors.

 

I had the Bosch Volvo T5 380 injectors #0 280 158 096, they were installed Feb. 2015. I have not had any issue with them. You will also need adapter EV6-EV1, I used pig tails so I did not have to shim the intercooler.
Injectors cost me $118 for all 4. Purchased from eBay 2011maxiecat1
EV6-EV1 cost me $20 for all 4. Purchased from eBay CS Performance LLC
I've heard that the price has increased due to MINI people ordering lots of them.

thanks for the responses, much appreciated. New OEM Mini/BMW injectors are my first choice, but the price tag on them is prohibitively high; the lowest I've seen them on-line is $128 USD. I did read through (most) of the long & detailed injector thread a while ago, but just wasn't keen on using spacers anywhere, so if the use of the pig-tails obviates the need for that then that's excellent info, thanks!! And thanks for the part numbers as well!

So unless I turn up a used set of injectors then think I'll go with the Bosch units.

Make sure they are really Genuine MINI for that price, some people buy other version and say they are 380cc Genuine.
