I have a 2004 R53 with the JCW package. I am looking into purchasing a set of wheels. The car is currently lowered on BC Racing coilovers. I had the car corner balanced and aligned back to factory specifications. I am confident from my research that the wheels will fit. What I am not confident about is the tires that are currently mounted in the wheels.

Onto the wheel specs:
16x7
40mm Offset
4x100
15.2LBS

Tires:
Toyo Proxes R1R
225/45/16

Thats my worry the 225/45/16. I also feel that’s slightly a wide tire for a 7” wheel.

Should be fine. Per Toyo,those tires can be used on rims 7"-8.5" wide.
Yours rims have slightly less offset than factory which will give your tires a little extra clearance to the strut.

 

Im running with Maxxis HP5 205/45/16 on Japan Racing JR3 16x7 ET40 on DTSline coilovers (29,7 lbs in total).
