What are my options to have black handles? I bought these black covers about two years ago and the driver side looks like crap.
are the handles plastic or metal? If they are metal I could powder coat them.
I wrapped mine about a year ago, maybe longer. Not perfect, but they look dgood from 2' away, and it was inexpensive. Not "EASY", but mistakes don't cost much.
Pretty sure the original ones are chrome plated metal (put a magnet on one and find out with physics). If steel, powder coating would probably be most permanent.
I just replaced my driver side handle today and they are "chrome" plating over plastic. It may be possible to remove the plating through electrolysis? I'd like black handles to since my car is almost entirely black or orange. Gotta get to the junkyard to get some test subjects.
NAPA sells a flat black bedliner that goes on very thin and would stick well to the chrome I think. I sprayed my range rover's sail panels with it about 8-9 years ago and it has held up well in the New Mexico sun, which is pretty intense.
The BEST brand handle cover I'd called Unicus , its THE ONLY brand that is actually a thick plastic vs a thin flimsy material like the rest. The ones I got were carbonfiber effect though there's gloss n flat black too. ANY other brand I've tried , has yet to be half as nice as these.
