Need advice: Should I buy R50 w/CVT 155k

I am scheduled to look at an 2004 R50 w/CVT that has 155k on it. It is said to be very well maintained. It is in great cosmetic shape

I have yet to discuss maintenance schedule nor have seen at any maintenance documents that may be available yet.

I guess my question really is, if the trans fluid was changed religiously every 40k or so, is this car worth considering or should I dismiss it out of hand?

Thanks
Jack

Don’t ever, ever, ever buy a CVT transmission!
They wear out quickly and are not economical to repair.

I agree, I wouldn’t recommend the CVT

Replacement cost on CVT is in the $5-6000 range. And they tend to need replacing every 50k miles. Please search thru this forum to see what others have stated. Good luck.

My CVT car is at 100,000 miles and it is fine. They aren’t perfect but BMW didn’t go with CVT’s without testing. Several had the failure but I’m not afraid. Of course, OTOH, I always change fluid at 35,000 miles.
