Rear main seal depth

As I am replacing the flywheel and clutch, I figured I'd replace the rear main seal as well. The question/concern is about how deep the seal can go in safely. I had it mostly flush, hmbut as it was not quite even all the way around, I kept tapping. Now the outer edge is about 1/8in recessed.

Is that too far in?

Thanks Doug

I always put them is to the depth of the previous one I took out. If I remember it was at the inside of the bevel.

I see.. I thought that was a beveled edge. I didn't pay close enough attention before putting it in and only noticed what looked to be beveled.. My outside edge is right on the edge of the bevel as can be seen in the picture. So you think it may be ok?

Thanks
