I have received many favorable comments about the color of my '05 hyper blue/black MCS, including from a guy in a pickup truck at a stop light. It might also have something to do with the 3 coats of Klasse SG covered with another 2 coats of PS21.

I don't understand alot of the comments made about IB vs. HB regarding similarity.

HB has alot more depth with the variation between it's purple and blue hues, maybe due to it having more fleck. IB is a much darker and flatter, more royal in hue. IMHO they are completely different, not even remotely the same.

Most of the pictures I've seen online haven't accurately portrayed HB where IB tends to be easier due to it's flatness, maybe this is where people are confused between the two colors... I won't even go into the (lack-of) monitor calibration of people's monitors or how people do or don't color correct images.

Anyways, everyone knows there's nothing better than Island Blue!

p.s. enjoy whatever frickin' blue you have!

I sped up my purchase of a MINI to get an Indi Blue before it stopped production. I get a lot of comments on the color. I looked closely at a HB MINI just today and it is pretty close in most lighting. I like it OK. However, if I had to choose a 2005 color, it would have to be Astro Black. Such a subtly beautiful blue/black and will probably be pretty rare, offered only on the MC and $430 more than non-metallic Black.

And apparently Hyper Blue is easier to spell than Indi Blue.

Beauty

"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Now really, the whole experience of MINI'ing oneself is to make your MINI yours. Be it HB, IB, CR whatever! So be unique, make it yours, and respect other MINI's right to be!

Peace
