Valve Cover Questions

I am a little concerned... I am installing the m7 heat shield (blanket) and the top bolt is what came off the valve cover. The bottom is what m7 sent to replace it.

Now I'm no engineer, but the Mini bolt seems a little more engineered than the m7 bolt. Is it really okay to replace it? I have no leaks and I don't want to create any...

Thanks!

Lol... never mind for now. Stupid me cracked the valve cover and will be tackling a replacement install as soon as the replacement arrives.

Any thoughts on driving it in the meantime?

So, since I am going to be replacing my valve cover, I thought I'd upgrade the intercooler while I've got it off. Anything else I should consider while I'm at it?

Also, is it worth getting a proper torque wrench in inch-pounds? I don't want to break the new cover, and I want to be sure there are no leaks.

Appreciate any insights, and thanks.

I’d say yes. Proper tools go a long way ima. And I’d add the Bentley service manual or you can install / use TIS

I can recommend the hobo intercooler (eBay), but it gets mixed feelings over here More pics avail in my build tread.

Love your build thread.

I was going to go with the Forge intercooler from Way, but I'll take a look at the Hobo.

Thx, much appreciated!

Sure its not the best in internal design, but for that price point it makes a very good "bang for buck" in my book. And for a little over 100 bucks, for me it was worth a shot (and I love it )
