AC Compressor Won’t Shut Off

Hello all, I have a 2006 Mini R53 and I’ve noticed that the cooling fan kicks on for about 10 seconds in high and then kicks off for about 10-15 seconds and repeats this any time the car is in idle. I do have my AC on and in recirculating mode. The temp goes down to about 48-50 degrees but I noticed the AC compressor doesn’t ever kick off? Also the low speed fan never kicks on. I replaced the fan relay and the low pressure switch and recharged the system but it still does the same thing. I had some gauges hooked up and the high side needle is not steady, it is moving pretty rapidly. I’m thinking this means there is an issue with the compressor but I’d like some input before I spend the money. While driving at times the temp rises to 60 degrees and then will drop again. Any ideas or anybody else experience something similar?

Up until recently, my manifold gauges were showing pretty unsteady high side pressure, and my fan was behaving exactly like yours. I replaced the fan resistor(search the forum, loads of info on it) and voila, low speed fan operating normally with the AC on, and much more stable high side pressure.

My compressor stays on pretty much all the time when I've got AC engaged, I believe that's normal behavior.

Check/fix your fan resistor first, before you throw money into the system.

Thanks for the reply, I already replaced the fan resistor and the problem is still there.

The resistor pack up inside the fan?
