Hey all! I've got an issue with my R50 and was hoping perhaps someone might have some knowledge that could help !
My mini died while my wife was driving it a few weeks ago, I drove over there and tried to start it, it cranked nicely, but wouldn't start. I immediately thought the pump was going, and eventually it just started right up. It drove for a few weeks then again while my wife was driving it it died, this time would not start again. I thought great, pump finally died should replace it. Before I ordered a new pump I thought I'd do some troubleshooting.
- I pulled the rear seats, and could not hear the pump prime, good news, probably just a bad pump.
- I measured the voltage on Pin 2 and 5 at the pump, and got no voltage.
- I checked the fuse, it was good, measured voltage and there is 12v at the fuse.
- I swapped the fuel pump relay with the one above it incase it was a bad relay, no go.
- Measured voltage at the relay and get 12v. I can also hear the relay clicking.
My immediate thought was maybe the inertia switch tripped, but as it's a 2004, the inertia switch isn't under the hood, and feel this may just be a long shot.
So I'm not getting power from the relay to the pump for some reason. Does anyone have any ideas I can try?
Just a guess but there may be a break in the line between the relay and the pump since you have power at the relay but none at that pump. The issue, I am guessing, is somewhere in between the two. Just a guess though.
Wanted to give everyone an update on how this was fixed and what the issue was incase someone ever has the same issue. I had a bad ground under the hood, drivers side. Here's a picture. Tightened it, and everythings fixed!
