Anti freeze brand for Mini Cooper S

I know the repair book says to use only the BMW / Mini Anti Freeze, but is that really the truth.
And, its more expensive than other brands.

Can I use Prestone instead ???

What ever is in the BMW anti freeze it makes a real mess when it leaks or is spilled on the motor.

I’ve seen people recommend Zerex G-05, but I’ve always just bought the BMW/Mini coolant at the dealer parts counter. It’s not that much to pay every few years, and I don’t worry about compatibility.

I used Pentofrost NF (50/50) Two bottles was more than enough. And I don’t remember it being that out of line on price.

Zerex G48, can be found at autozone or O’Reilly’s, made for mini, bmw, etc. I think it’s like 20 a gallon so not to expensive at all, which is only 5 bucks more expensive.
