Lol
you act like this mod hasn't been done, for many years,to many other types of superchargers.. I had did this exact mod on my mp supercharger once I got it for my third back when and like I said , ran 2 years not 1 issue and sold the sc that way too then.
Please show me where guys are plugging the air inlet ports on the R53 Eaton superchargers. Most guys are porting them to get more air flow....why in the hell would you block them to DECREASE airflow to the supercharger?? Why not JB weld up your throttle body while you are at it.
You know that the size, shape, quantity, and location of the inlet ports were designed by engineers at Eaton with plenty of R&D money......but some random guy with JB weld is going to close some up....and it's going to improve things? Really? Please explain in logical terms how that would ever increase performance...or noise....or anything beneficial.
Do what you want......it's your car. Seems pretty crazy to me....but you do you.
If he has that much money to throw around on superchargers, then I might know where there is a R55 that could use a downpipe, one step colder plugs, and some Mario Kart Rpm stage 2 love 😉
Wellllllllllll i got carried away on my old sc.
depending on how well the new all rubber seal fits I WILL be installing the sc to see IF there were any benefits of my casting cleanup and porting..I opened up that V a decent amount and smoothed the edges. I also took down that lower wall completely on the inside as you see theres a step in it and I took down the screw feeds. I also enlarged the opening on the bottom ALOT too..HEHE ! I also started repainting and touching stuff up and I decided to do the sc black now..
THIS IS NOT my 1st rodeo porting and modding an sc... the point in covering those silencer ports is as stated and it doesn't hinder the air flow as barely any is drawn through those ports and the little that blocked can easily be made up for , there function isn't to pass air through but to SLOW down the air coming through the main chamber to quiet it down .
And I'm assuming you left the rotors in there when you ground away at the aluminum and made all those chips and aluminum dust? Nice job!! I'm sure the bearing and seals will really love that.
And way to go on closing up those intake ports to increase airflow.... brilliant idea! I always find that restricting airflow by JB welding up the intake ports.....really helps with airflow.
Well zooming in on some of his pics and looking at some of his youtube videos it appears the rotors have some piting and scaring and leading edges of the rotors and in other areas.

Don't worry about any of that.......it's really not important. He knows what he's doing......
Rotors already had some flaking...lol you guys act like this is a 8000$ supercharger on a Ferrari. Lol , its my SPARE sc for a minincoooper . Lol geez.. worse comes to worse it doesn't work as well which could be the case , I don't fully understand the mp45 yet I only ever did m90s and m62s and my magnum powers which was an aftermarket built mp90 AND HAD THOSE PORT FILLED , so why wouldn't the same principals apply to this sc , its just smaller displacement...
you Honestly don't think opening that intake up and the V and getting rid of castings will help at all???? I mean geez , a little efficiency is a help no ??
and i coverd the rotors and GOT EVERY TINY PARTICLE out before i even moved them to begin fully cleaning it, and NONE got past my barriers I made ...idk why all the flame... Id hope any of you the best of luck it , i don't know why you guys wanna see me fail..cmon now..
lol you guys seriously think a mass produced supercharger that's made to meet strict road restrictions is going to be optimally setup to make as much power as it can? Or run at a certain volume and allow the engine to get a specific mileage requirement and strict emissions requirement.
Don't worry about any of that.......it's really not important. He knows what he's doing......
judging by reading alot of your previous stuff you can't even diagnose simple misfire issues on your car but yet try and be a keyboard warrior who acts like he know EVERYTHING , lol cmon now you don't even know the qst thing about superchargers , I can atleast say i have atleast SOME more knowledge in you in this area. So its people like you that drop your shitty comments that just make me laugh . No offense but don't waste your time posting ******** in my threads anymore plz . Ur stupid comments just sidetrack progress that I'm trying to make or info someone might need in the future .
lol you threw in 380cc injectors and a wmw quick tune and wondered why you had no power gain.. He knows what he's doing......

Well good news and bad news... GOOD NEWS: the supercharger ran JUST fine for about 1min..BAD NEWS : my belt was jumping a groove on my supercharger pulley so I thought I didn't install the pulley correct or somehow it was wrecked. I put on my back up sc and exact same issue.
I looked better and see that my tensioner pulley is slightly cooked and spaced abit wrong.. could it have gotten bent or damaged when my sc went out or taking it on and off so much ? I tried EVERYTHING and no luck so I guess I gotta bite the bullet and buy a new stock tensioner and belt tool as I'm sure my current one and alta tensioner are shot , plus it be kinda nice to go back to a stock system I hope though I don't get belt slip OR I will buy another alta tensioner for the new tensioner...so I guess this thread is dead now. Thx for the help guys , lol onto ANOTHER problem . Lol what an avalanche of problems I had since the head n cam..I literally had but 1 issues 14 months owning the car. And now all this , well I definitely know how to work on this engine now though atleast...
Lol derderder me or my guy musta forgot to cut off the other zip tie we put on the tensioner because we did it to keep it compressed to get it back on n lined up..lol I do only remember snipping off one, derderder. That I think would explain my lack of tension and why I had to tighten my belt more than normal which made it jump a grove on the sc pulley until it went all the way over and hit and blew out the sc seal and then the belt shredded... God I feel like an idiot , I caused my self soooooo much extra work
you guys think that being the spring crooked like that would have been casing my belt alignment issues ? I put a atrait edge on the pullies and they're all in line from what I can tell..so I'm pulling the trigger on a new tensioner and belt tool..

will order it and the belt tool tonight . Though I'm pretty sure my alta tensioner is fine so if for some reason I have belt slip issues , which seems to be the biggest issue with smaller pullies , I will then reinstall the alta adjustable rod into the new tensioner then.
After ready through this entire post.....I've come to the conclusion that 90% of your issues are self induced.
welllllllllllllllll , I will not argue that . I DID leave that zip tie on AND I did pinch and cut the crank sensor wire sooooo. Yes , the issues were my fault .
But in all fairness we had to rig back on my tensioner without the tool AND it was already kinda shotty.
but yes had I took a little extra time all this could have been avoided. BUT in all fairness each time the car came apart it got better parts like new coolant hoses or all new sensors belt and now a tensioner, o yea and a ported sc
Agh well, no point crying over spilt milk...
that is a big reason I usually work on my car alone so things don't go over looked and I try not to work on it when its late at like 2am. Thats when I tend to do dumb dumbs.

Agree. Always trying to do **** on the cheap or half assed. Funny how people never have the money to do it right the first time but always have the money to do it twice! Put down the spanner and dont pick it up.
As long as people learn from it, I dont see the harm.
Every home mechanic made/makes mistakes, would be a damn shame if you would stop working on your car because people tell you not to do it anymore. And he might have done it "half assed" because, maybe at the time he didn't know any better.
I applaud MiniManAdam for being so open about it and making his situation discussable over the internet.

Cmon it wasn't that big of a mistake. In all fairness i was doing the work with a buddy and we were each just kinda going at it so yes i should have been more careful for sure but i was mainly worried about the bigger things at that time and thats how a stupid simple zip tie got over looked.. either way though it had to come back apart to replace the crack sensor wire that got a splice in it and my coolant hoses were swelling so they had to go to. I just didn't have all the necessary parts during the head swap. Like new hoses and that sensor and the belt tool ( though I had an alta tensioner)
but I WILL NEVER stop working on my car just because I made a mistake. Thats life , live and learn and be smarter and better than you were yesterday.
lol I do feel kinda derder though after finding alot of these issues were caused by A LEFT ON ZIP TIE !!!! LOL
and atleast I was man enough to admit my mistake instead of bashing a product or my car saying that it failed or was junk... I try to be as legit as possibly. My alta tensioner had nothing to do with the failure of the tensioner or my belt so I hope anyone reading this in the future doesn't shy away from the alta tensioner, I may even use that if the stock setup doesn't provide adequate tension.

Do-overs... the best educator there is... nothing like doing a job 2x or more and learning from it.
The last step in any job is to verify all the bolts are torqued (as you go if they get buried) and all the parts are back in their place.

Never give up...
Working on a car too 12 hours after surgery isn't usually advisable buuuuuut yea, its me.
I actually did that while the head was off. I checked all oil pan and timing cover bolts and accessories bolts.. I was going to replace the crank sensor but they sent me the wrong one, mines fine but I wanted to replace it just because its the last old sensor on my car now really .
and this isn't really work as much as it is fun for me. I'm really learning the inns and outs of this engine now and how to work on and diagnose issues on it... imo nothing other than time has been lost and a few dollars...o well..
I like your style. Can't recall the last time I saw so much negativity on one of these threads, and all over some guy who just wants to ask some questions and mod his own supercharger. I am really curious to see what that porting does, and I applaud you for rebuilding it yourself. There are some threads on here where people act like rebuilding these chargers is a dark art that can only be mastered with an engineering degree. I would much rather buy one or two broken spares and learn something about it, so long as I know I can make something semi-functional.
I'm into it- my car is a shitbox and that's part of what I love about it. There is nothing on my R53 that I will feel bad breaking, modifying, replacing with some chinese amazon crazy stuff, or bumping into my garbage cans backing out of my drive. I am gonna drive the **** out of it all winter and love it. If I had bought a new mini, or had a car worth more, it would serve none of those purposes. I don't dislike the guys who want to spend $10k trying to make their low mileage R53 pristine, but those guys should realize that not everyone has the same goals with their cars.
When you get your sensor straightened out, put the ported one back on!
