Boost Gauge

A little advice please - for my R53. My Boost gauge recently went into the light. It's not functioning properly - it jumps vs smoothly moves. I need it to be a 52mm can type and the existing one uses a tube hooked into the intake. Any recommendations on a new one? I've seen glowshift and AEM have good ratings but I think it's more of a coolness factor - because the reviews state the Glowshift has to be calibrated to work properly. Any advice / suggestions?

There are a number of OBD II, Bluetooth-enabled apps that will display a boost gauge on your phone, in addition to many other performance metrics.

I already have the setup - so I'd rather keep it in place than reinvent the wheel. I just want a good gauge .. and close to accurate. I don't need $500 accuracy but I also don't need cheap inaccuracy. I also don't want to deal with replacing it a year from now.

Autometer gauges are well built. Can't speak to the quality of AEM gauges, but I imagine you'll be paying a little extra for the AEM badge on it. I view Glowshift as an ebay brand.

:

I recently installed a SAAS boost gauge, they're from Australia and I got a good deal on it so couldn't pass it up,
it has performed well so far...

I was originally gonna go with Speedhut:

... but the good deal I got on the SAAS nixed that for me.

The Speedhut gauges are well-respected and have lots of custom options too,
although slightly pricey for a simple analog boost gauge.

I run a AEM X Series and it seems to work well.

+1 for AutoMeter

I’ve run their ProComp Ultra Lite series gauges in both of my R53s. Price point is fair. Huge selection in the same lineup. Accuracy and reliability are good enough for racing application.

The only con is the backlighting. It’s ambient light from the edge of the gauge face rather than direct backlighting to the units.

I have an Autometer ES boost gauge, and it has led lighting through the gauge. Matches very well to the stock gauges.
