R50/53 Left My 2006 Mini Cooper for an Audi A5 Coupe
Left My 2006 Mini Cooper for an Audi A5 Coupe
14 years and 173,500 miles later, and finally said good-bye to the Mini yesterday. Both window motors went out a week apart, and the regulators were surely shot as well. Came to $400 just for parts and I just couldn't do it. I gave the car to my mechanic to sell, told him I get the first $800, he gets the second $800 --if he can get that much--, and we split anything above $1600. New tires, hoses, CV joints (axles), wires, plugs, serpentine belt and recently recharged air conditioning. Car still runs great. If you are in the Las Vegas area and interested in buying it, send me a message.
Let's hope the new 2020 Audi A5 coupe serves me as well. The A5 is a fun car to drive, a little over the top with the electronic instrumentation; I would trade half of it for a CD player in a heart-beat. I guess I need to get my 14 year-old to explain how it all works to me. Would have considered another Mini Cooper, but had a bad experience with the dealership here in Las Vegas (was purchased in KC). Contacted them about the passenger seat airbag sensor recall, and the best they could do was offer the use of their lounge for what might have been an entire day wait. No loaner car, no ride, no interest (apparently) in me buying another Mini.

Enjoy your A5. I bet in a year you will find yourself searching the internet for a used MINI and not long after that the 14 year old will be driving a MINI or an A5 when you won’t give up the keys to the MINI.
But most importantly, enjoy the A5.
