Well after 16000 miles the plug I had put into the tire started to leak. Every other day I had to put more air into the tire and reset the sensor. Today I went to the tire store I have been doing buisness with for 20 some odd years. They only do inside patches. After carefully removing the tire from the wheel they found on the inside wall a 2" cut. To be on the safe side I told them to replace the tire. NOBODY in the city has one. These are the 205/45/17 performace run flats. It will take a week to get it in. The tire dealer said there was no bubble on the outside so it should be safe for a little while. So I have a patched so so tire for one week. I will have to stay off the gas for a little bit. I wonder if the cut is a factory defect. I will save the tire when I get the new one in just for a spare to have around the house. Will post a picture of the cut when I get the new one in.

Sorry to hear how frustrating it might be to get a proper sized run-flat. Hopefully they will become more common in the future.

By the end of winter, my MINI will be carrying 2 full-sized spare tires, tee hee!

But a warning: keeping things like damaged tires around might be a sign of strange obsessive-complusive behavior.

Be careful, or you will end up like me with a garage full of broken car parts that might have some use some day but really never do. . .
