R50/53 Pcv valve broke bolt
Pcv valve broke bolt
My pcv valve main bolt to take it off I was gonna replace it. What should i do now i reallly dont wanna buy a new valve cover. Is there anyway I can clean it while it's still in the car
I'll confess I'm a little confused what happened here, but I suppose you could pull the hose off the pcv valve and squirt some carb cleaner in it. I'd probably do it when you change the oil so you don't have carb cleaner in with your oil.
A better solution would be to clamp some vice grips on the broken bolt and try to get that bolt out so that you can clean the PCV properly, and have a way to hold it in.

Do you have a picture?

I'm fairly certain that the crank case has a metal insert that serves as the thread for that bolt, though it's been 4 or 5 years since I've seen one. I think you ought to be able to drill the bolt out. Start small, make sure it's centered, and go slow.
If you can't get vice grips on it, I think the only option other than replacing the valve cover is drilling out the bolt.
