Installed a new intake

Got to play in the garage today.

Did my first oil change... I had read enough negative comments that I was expecting a nightmare... Went pretty smooth.

While I was at it, I threw on the DDM intake and tube that I picked up last week from the marketplace. I was planning to buy a stainless one, but got a good deal on a used one that included the intake tube as well.

Did the red tubes for the supercharger as well, because--race car. Well, not really, there's a red accent theme going on the outside, so I carried it into the engine compartment as well.

Test drove it on my favorite twisty route right in the middle of Tacoma, and I was happy. Can't say for a fact that there was a performance gain... but you can't prove that there wasn't. :P DEFINITELY increased the volume of the SC whine! I didn't have my hearing aids in, and I still heard it! Car certainly seemed smoother. Like it could get all the air it wanted.

Next up, waiting for a screaming deal on an exhaust. That, and a rear sway bar. I'm thinking my stock suspension refresh last year might not have been enough now...

Don't you mean "air filter" ?

The "intake" could be better explained as the "intake" manifold, and everything that directs the air into the engine.
Each part has it's own name. The air filter being just a small part of the whole.
What would you call the "intake" manifold ?

Mike

No, I didn't mean "air filter." The air filter is simply one component of the intake system, in this case the one made by DDM. Please forgive me for leaving out the words "Cold Air" from the manufacturer's product name. I was typing with my thumbs, and figured most users would understand.

I would call an "intake manifold" an "intake manifold."

I also did not expect to be administered an automotive nomenclature quiz on my post. Is there a particular reason you decided to be a jerk, or is this just your normal way of engaging in conversations?

Congrats! Looking good! I only have an R50, but love the sound and possible increase of hp of my DDM Intake. (Until I couldn’t hear it over the Borla cat-back! Lol)

Very clean looking MINI!

Drive fast! Take chances!
