Synchromesh or MTF94?

04 mini
200k miles
While putting the stick into reverse I very often have to slightly back off the clutch to get the gears to go in.
Previous owner replaced clutch at about 130k miles, but never changed the engine oil filter.....

I’m replacing the driver side CV axle today, and I can’t find MTF94 in town (Kansas City). The guy at Advanced Auto says valvoline Syncromesh is what his book recommends.
I’ve read that Redline MTL 70w-80 is an exact match for the 03 S 6 speed.

I’m scared to drain the current oil, & I’d like to top off with the synchromesh.

Thoughts please!

Rather than mixing potentially 2 different oils I would drain and replace. Redline MTL is what I have been using. If you still have issues with reverse try putting it in a forward gear then reverse.
