The MCS I test drove had cloth seats and I did not like them at all, which is why I laid out $1200 for leather. (not a fan of the plastic either... oops I mean leatherette). Plus I love the matching blue carpet that comes with the lapis blue.
Just my opinion though (everyone has one...).

The matching blue carpet caught my eye with the lapis blue as well. I have the space cloth ordered but have thought about dropping the rallye lights and picking up the lapis blue leather seats. I think I'm sticking with the space cloth for thre basic reasons. 1. I might be moving to Miami and the leather and and year round shorts could be a bad combination. 2. You hear a lot of stories on MCO about the leather tearing, scuffing, etc (and it's common with BMW leather as well) 3. Great leather is amazing, but great leather is rare and average leather is alot of work. Still it's always nice when the carpet matches the .. er .. seats.

I agree, and why not buy the cloth seat cover for $125.00 and have the best of both worlds?

I thought quite a while about this, and decided that for the same reason I wouldn't put a bra on my car to hide it from view, I didn't want seat covers on my choice of interior so that the next owner could enjoy a fresh looking interior. I want to see the front of my MINI, and I want to enjoy the interior I ordered as well. The leatherette came highly recommended, and it does surprise those who find out it isn't leather. Ease of cleanup and maintenace is a plus, and I find them plenty comfortable. Had I gotten cloth seats, I have no doubt I'd have enjoyed them as well. The main thing is to get sports seats. I can't imagine ripping off turn radii w/out them. It appears that MINI interiors are well made, and all varieties please their owners most of the time.

Okay I'm late in the discussion as usual, but here's my input: I have cloth sport seats in my MC...I love them. They don't get too hot in the sun (Texas) and they fit great! (...if you know what I mean.) Actually, it was my motoring advisor who recommended them as he had been driving standard leatherette seats for many months (including summer). I'm sure I would have been happy with whatever I got, though.
