We began motoring last weekend. We drove from DFW to Memphis to pick up our Cooper S in a rented Altima. Picked up our CR/W. Nothing but awesome things to say about Roadshow. Spent the weekend in Memphis and drove back to Dallas (8hours) on Sunday. We brought our kids with us (4 & 6) and they had a blast too.

 

ringmakerFL.. THAT SUCKS! I was just at Checkered Flag today talking to Jeremy. I remember him telling me that when the MINIs come in, they can only keep them for three days, and I was like well that's not gonna be a problem since i live like 10 mins away. But yeah, their inventory is LOW... they only have like 8 or so cars out front, NOTHING in the back.

And about not dealing much with out of towners?! they've always told me that they deal a lot with out of staters since they normally have such a big selection. hmmm, sounds weird. although, to their defense, I know that the 3-days is their policy..

MINI of STL doesn't seem to have a problem with "holding" your car if you can't get it right away. Another Marcher is on vacation & his MINI will be waiting until the 19th. I also saw a very nice MCS while I was there & my motoring advisor said the guy was not able to pick it up until next week because he lives "out of town" Sounds like that dealer makes their own rules!!!!

i guess what frosts my *** so much is the fact that the salesman and i have been talking for about a year, he knows tha i have to travel for my job, i'm out for 3 to 4 weeks at a time, he never had a problem taking my out of state check,and also the fact that since car was ordered and check was deposited that all contact has to be initiated by me....not once have they called me for an update on the status of my order.....as far as no inventory, why did they send cars up to the Sterling dealer?the 3 day thing was just a formality they put in the paperwork, I was told

Sorry I haven't been around latley, but I've been really busy with school.

So, we picked up Penny last Thursday night, and from what I hear, she's been SUPER. I'm still in the process of learning to drive stick, but It's going okay. My mom LOVES Penny, and she said she's been having a blast driving her. I'm sure she's been getting lots of looks.

I did take pictures at the dealership, but I'm holding out for pictures of me actually driving Penny to post, so we'll see.

I do not like to bring this up but since you gave them a deposit and they provided a production number, which lead to a VIN, you have what some lawyers may call a binding contract. The dealer I worked with has cars on the lot for buyers that are out of state and holds them until they come in. They have NO stock, they have sold some that the buyers have backed on. When you order a MINI there is no set delivery date, they even tell you that up front. So you may need to push the issues with GM and tell them if they sell your car that you have contract on you will have to seek legal action.

You were never able to tell the dealer that "I will pick up my car on March 1, 2003", they can not take a special order and just cancel it because you can not pick it up when they say.

What would they say if you lived in area and had to be out of state for medical emergency or some other thing like that. Would there response be 'Well that is just to bad, we did not tell your friend or family to get hurt. If you do not get your car we going to sell it."

Just my $.02 worth.......

I hate dealers that think they can just do what they please. With an attitude like this it makes me wonder how they have customers...........

BTW - I just looked the Checker Flag site and they have a MCS BRG/W on the new inventory page for sale. Is this yours?????

i questioned them about the inventory on line and awas told that the computer just updates automatically.......yes thats that my baby!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Man, my dealership is taking a beating today, and rightfully so. Policy Schmolicy, they can easily hide it in the back if they needed to, or get a backbone and tell a would be customer, "sorry this one is sold" you DO have a deposit on the car and what mini-rolls said is very true.

I would, if i were rich, snag your car up for you and keep it til you got here, but I can't very well do that... it's the thought though, right?!

Other than this situations, I must stick up for the dealer on the whole and say that they are very curteous people. They've had some issues with the service dept (from what i've read), but that's not against them, as the service is a few miles East of the dealership at CF-BMW, their main HQ.

As per CptJoe's remark about calling ASKMINI a few times to hear that he was still waiting for a truck, I decided to call this morning and they said winnie left on a tuck this morning (I shoulda asked what time) and should be here this evening/early morning.. truckers don't SLEEP do they? anyone else get nervous that something might happen while their MINIs are on a truck? just my over-paranoid self, i'm sure. but anyway, delivery should by saturday at the latest!

with my job traveling, i visited 9 dealers before i picked Checkered Flag, they were the ones who took time with me, let me do a test drive with just me and my partner, ansd even when i ordered , they had a BRG S that was going to be for stock, but they went ahead and changed the options to fill my order, they could have said to me "just wait", so i can't complain about the timing of delivery. but when were they going to call me to tell me i could pick up my car....on the third day?questionable!!!!!!!!!! i have been venting on here so that it doesn'tget back to the dealer and i arrive on thursday to pick up car to find out that they sold my car.....don't want to upset them anymore

i am SOOOOOO angry :evil: ..... somehow they think my car is still sitting at the dock in Pt. Hueneme and hasn't even made it to the VDC!!!! HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE????? especially when KatCal's is there??? we came in on the SAME SHIP!!

Is there a method to processing cars from the dock to the VPC? I wonder if they organize the processing by dealer in anyway, so that they go through VPC together and on to a truck together? It seems like your dealer should be able to clarify that.

While we couldn't pick him up today (6-8 hours of accessories to be added), we had to visit the nursery to make sure everything was intact. He'll be worked on today, tomorrow - but probably won't be able to start motoring until Monday.
Honestly, picture don't seem to do this color (or any MINI color justice). Much creamier in person.

Guess what-Esmeralda is here. She is great everything turned out great. Our MA was great and it was fun driving her home. Can't wait to drive her tomorrow. Lots of buttons to learn.
