R50 Cargo Area Toolbox Dimensions

Does anyone have the dimensions of the toolbox area of the R50 trunk? It's not huge but should be enough for a small 8" subwoofer that can be hidden away. I just need the exact dimensions and my car is at the shop now so can't measure them for a little while. I know they managed to extend it a bit and fit a battery in there for the R53,

Sorry, don't have the dimensions but it's oddly shaped with a lage bump in the middle where the spare tire mount/holder is. This will take up a lot of space that the sub would probably need. When the mount is removed the hole is bigger than you would expect and would need to be filed. When the mount/holder and tire is removed you see the ground underneath the car. Just a friendly reminder.

Yeah I remember - but maybe there is a super low profile sub that will work. Just need dimensions from someone that can take them real quick for me. My car will be in the shop for a week or so and I need to order the sub before then and get a custom box built for that space.

Thank you!

I'll try and remember to take measurement tonight though it will not be exact. The R53 box the battery sits in is not an extension of the area in the R50. That is the only substantial difference in the R50 and R53 body's that I know of. That whole boot floor panel is different.

I would think that an 8" sub would be about 4 to 5 inches thick, you will have about half that at best.

Yeah if you can take the measurements that would be much appreciated. Maybe I'll have to put a smaller sub in or get a super low profile one.

I did not get exact measurements. It's about 2.5 to 2.75 inches deep and about 12 inches long with about a 4x4 section where the spare tire holder bracket is.
