Lower engine bracket bolt specification?

I done goofed.

I've been replacing the mounts on my 2006 R53 mini cooper, and the figure I found for the torque spec to the bracket to the oil pan was 50ft/lbs. I knew it was too much for a bolt going into aluminum that was that size I knew it, but I was on borrowed time on the lift so I picked the easiest to access bolt and started on it. It was a digital sweep torque wrench so I could feel it get loose around 40ish ft/lbs. I stopped and did the other ones by hand and called it good, but I'm pretty sure the first one I was tightening is going to come out with some threads attached the next time I pull it out.

So, could someone confirm the bolt thread pitch? I'll grab a helicoil kit for it in the future. Also any recommendations on a manual? Is the haynes any good? Or should I just pony up for the bentley manual?

Not for nothing, but I found a Bentley manual (for my R53) in PDF form online for $20. Super helpful buy.

Personally, get the Bentley and never look back.

Those should be M10 x 20 with the standard 1.5 pitch.
But I'd pull one of the good ones and take it to your local hardware store to be sure.
And if you didn't, I'd pull the 3 good ones (one at a time of course) and use Loctite or Anti-Seize on them.

Oh are they prone to rattling loose or seizing? Or do they need some fluid for the correct torque spec?

Thanks for the info, I'll make sure to pick a bentley up or at least defer to someone more knowledgeable than I before I keep going with this.

There’s also an online TIS site with most of the technical info for repairs to your MINI. HERE is the page relative to your inquiry, with torque values linked.

For the bottom engine carrier bracket holder to oil sump, it’s 4 - M10x20 bolts torqued to 38 Nm (28.03 ft./lbs.). Since they're only supposed to be torqued to 28 ft./lbs., anti-seize isn't really necessary.

It's not that they are known to loosen, it's just good practice for areas prone to movement (it is technically called "lower engine vibration damper") and, "not like metals", esp if you are going to possibly Helicoil one.

Oh, the reason I mentioned Loctite (blue) is that it also acts as an Anti-Seize as well, two birds with one stone....

Ok, looked it up in the Bentley, torque spec for those is 28 ft-lb (38 Nm) same as the above post.
