Any adverse effects of aftermarket coils?

I recently inherited a new screamin demon coil pack and wires. Is this a pretty plug and play thing or can it cause electrical problems with the higher voltage?

Some people have had ok luck with them, but many have had problems.
The OEM coil works perfectly, performance application or not, and they rarely if ever fail, even with high millage.
(I'm still using my original at 226k)
If you want to swap the wires that's just fine, but I'd skip swapping out the coil.

Go into, and use the "search" function of this website.
You find a lot of reading on coils, stock and aftermarket.

There is a lot of "internet myth" about coils on these cars.
From our real world experience I can tell you the MSD doesn't fit right and puts out less voltage, but hey it's red cause that's what is important.

We use the Screamin Demon in our shop all the time and even have them custom do them for us so you can use the stock bolts with our version so it is a bolt on. We hear the internet say they fail all the time, but I've never had one fail in the last 10yrs.

OEM is always a good option and nothing against it, just that it cost more.

there are other various aftermarket brands out there too, but again you run into fitment as you can't use the stock bolts or rubber mounts for them so we don't use them either.

What Way said

I had a 2004 with the MSD and I switched it back to OEM due to a misfire. Been running the Screaming Demon from Way in my 2006 with no issues whatsoever. Having said that, I only switched because my OEM units had corrosion, this is not a "mod" but a replacement.
