R50/53 R50 be R53 valves
R50 be R53 valves
Hi all,
im in the middle of doing a head swap on my 04 r53, the head I bought came with valves already installed but they do not have the casting marks (the “dot” and the “I” for the exhaust and intake valves respectively). However, 3 of the new valves have the markings and the rest do not.... the head I was supposed to get had all the valves marked (pictures on website). I guess my question is, are these valves safe to use on my R53 or, are there after market valve kits that do not have casting marks? Any input is much appreciated. Attached are photos of my old valves vs new.

It's hard to say as different brands may or may not have markings.
I'd verify with who you got it from as the R53 exh valves are sodium filled and the R50 aren't so if they are R50 valves you are likely to burn them.
