There's something endearing and vulnerable about the Mini that attracts mean basterds People who like to hurt small animals and babies. Knowing this, I protect it like I would my infant child. Until we have forcefield technology, I'm afraid that all we can do is to be "over protective".

It might be a satisfying solution to plant a stake out...you know...park a Mini at night in the right spot and have 50 or 100 of us waiting in the dark...use your imagination I'm not condoning anything permanent...maybe tie him or her up buttnaked to a pole...post pictures of the perp in such situation on the web...the thought sure makes me feel better

Sorry to hear that. After 1 week I picked up my Chilly Red MCS 04, some one backed up in to the front hood just above the front intake. Just as if some one put their fist in it. I truly feel for you. I did the work my self after the local dealer gave me $700 estimate. Hope you have better luck getting better price to fix it.

Paul.

Sorry to hear about the keying. Oceanside is a lot better than it was 20 years ago, but...

After having our car egged in front of our house, and walked on in Encinitas, I am not sure there is anywhere outside that a car will not be vandalized.

Good luck with the repairs.

Sorry to hear your baby got hurt. It's really hard sometimes when you work hard to have nice things just to have someone try to ruin them. But take solace (and have pity) knowing that those people do not have nice things.

So, take heart! Ariel has a scar, but it doesn't hide her beauty. The person who scratched her knew only moment of joy, but it won't change the cold and emptiness they obviously feel.

(Ohhhh - cool flames! Preston's been asking about some of those for XMas!)

Oh, Sid! You are so sweet to take that vigilante stance on Donna's behalf! It DOES make me feel better to imagine the perp tied butt-nekkid to a pole, with a piccie circulated on the 'net! That would be AWESOME!

(We can fantasize, eh?)

My condolences. Geez, that sucks. Sending VERY bad vibes to the SOB.

No the factory alarm won't go off and a car cover won't help an intentional scratcher. There are aftermarket alarms that go off if someone comes close to the car. That and parking close to key security camaras are your best defense. (Or hiring your own security guard but thats economically unfeasible)

Forget about filing with your insurace company. You'll end up paying three times over for it in the long run when they up your rates.

Bloo was also the victim of a mindless crime a few months ago. The day after washing bloo (methodically, I might add) I found a deep dimple about two inches from the rear license plate. It seems someone threw a rock or something at bloo while driving or at a church parking lot the previous day. Everytime I walk up to the car Its there, staring at me right in the face I'd love to find the %$#@&* and throw rocks at him

I was told by my insurance agent that comprehensive claims won't increase your premium, as the damage is not your fault.
We have only $100 deductable for comprehensive coverage, so you can bet I will be having any damage fixed, and the insurance company paying the bill!

Hi Donna and Mike,
I just start back on the MINI boards and one of the first things I see is your tale of woe. Your new Cabrio has been deflowered! I hope it was just impulsive jealous behavior and not someone targeting MINIs. We sold the old Bee and have a Cabrio Bee now so we hope not to share your plight. We hope California is treating you well other than this incident. If you make it back to the Dragon next spring we hope to see you again. By the way...your signature MINIs are great......how did you make those?

After having my MINI for over a year I still can't relax when it's parked anywhere other than my garage. Good luck on getting it fixed quickly and expertly.

This country is turning so conservative...some people just can stand the thought of folks going topless!

Hey, it's a drag but every dog has his day...it may take months or years, but it will catch up to him (or her). Karma, baby!

Best of luck. Have pics of the keying?
Here's a few pixs - I didn't want to bore you with too many as it looks the same all the way down the car......

And.......the total damage comes to.......are you ready??? $2000!!! The place I am ending up going with, has a 5 star rating from USAA - it's very near our house - they will repaint the entire bonnet, door and back left panel. Something I didn't even think of is they have to replace the stripes and the clear bra too...damn.......I could just choke the little punks...

She goes in the shop Monday morning and is supposed to be ready Friday afternoon....

Chow!

Yowtch! Do you have to pay a deductible, Donna? How does USAA categorize such situations? I so admire your good attitude, though...smiling after all is said and done. Getting it back by Friday is AWESOME!

We pay the $250 deductible - USAA picks up the rest. They said our rates will not go up for several reasons - been with them for 31 years (OMG I'm old!!!) and have had very few claims. Basically it's a no fault claim which unfortunately USAA has to pay for.... I have a very clean driving record (unlike my other half... )

Chow!
