R50/53 driver window regulator cables over latch cable
driver window regulator cables over latch cable
I am trying to replace my driver's door window regulator motor and am to the point of removing the regulator from the door (after "carefully" prying and breaking both white plastic cable clips inside near the top) but the rear of the regulator cables go over the cable from the door handle to the latch. I am following several instruction sets (currently the one from Pelican parts), and none mention the window cables being around and over the door latch cable. Is this normal? Any suggestions? Do I have to remove the door latch mechanism to get the regulator out? Help?
EDIT: I was able to get the front rail and motor out of the door far enough to replace the motor without removing the rear rail. I still have the broken cable clips to contend with; any source for new cable clips before I button this back up? And does anyone know if the three screws that hold the motor to the door are Posi-Drive rather than Phillips? My Phillips bit wanted to cam out when driving these by hand into the new motor housing.
EDIT 2: I got everything back together and When I tried the window, it goes down in the up switch position and up in the down switch position and when it gets to the bottom it comes back up 1/4 inch. I tried connecting the original motor I had just replaced (which of course is working now) and looking at the gear side of the housing the up switch position turns the gear clockwise and the down switch position turns the gear counter-clockwise. Anyone know if this is the correct direction? The connector only goes on the motor one way so I could not have reversed the connector on the new motor and the original motor worked in the correct direction when it did work. So is the new Chinese motor wired backwards? Or is it possible for the window computer to lose track of which way to go?
