P.S.

Is there a way to add mini Xenons to a '05 MC without Xenons? Like an official retrofit kit.

I know that you can retrofit the new '05 halogens/Xenons to older '02-'04 cars but I am not sure whether you can "cross" upgrade from Halogens to Xenons.

Do a search on the article PDF here:

My wife's cousin works for one of the led manufacturers and he told me audi will have them in 07. This article says a couple more years so maybe 09.

Anyway, I sure we'll see them in the near future.

The April Road and Track has a good article on various light technologies.
I have been told that at night the Xenon light do attract our friendly neighorhood police radar guns.

Then I suggest driving at night with your hi beams only.

Also don't forget that Canucks get the heated front windshield and standard ASC+T in the Cooper model (ASC+T is standard in the MCS only).

My theory on why these things are standard is that it keeps overall costs down.Sure we pay for them, but if they were options, less cars coming here would have these things the same,or standard from the factory and the cost for these useful options[up here] would be more. It's a volume thing.32 Million of us,300+million of you.Cali along has more MINIs than Canada.
And to stay on thread,I'd get the HIDs if they were an option.

The other consideration with Xenons is where you live and where you park. They're a high value, high theft risk item for cars parked on the street in urban areas. (I read a post by a guy in Boston who's lost two sets.) Furthermore if they do get stolen there's usually collateral damage to the bonnet and a roughly $3 grand fix and replace bill.

FWIW I have Xenons on my 05 MCS and like them a lot. And yes, mine is parked in a garage.

I haven't driven a Mini with regular halogens at night so have no comparison. In general people I know who do have Xenons on other cars also like them a lot.
