I heard that if your leasing a Cooper and at the end of the lease you HAVE to have the same type of run flats on the car that were on it when you took delivery. I know some folks that already wore out the run flats and put regular tires on. Any thoughts???

You can do what I did, I took off the run flats, and put on some Dunlop runflats, and when my lease is up I will put the Pirelli's back on.

I don't think thats true. You don't have to have the same brand or type of tires when you turn it in. All my leases have stated the minimum tread depth of the tires on the vehicle at turn in. As a frequent lessee, I've never seen anything else listed on the contract.

I seem to keep hearing alot of BS (apparently originating with the dealers) on things that void your warranty, what is required at lease end, etc. They are just out to do as little as possible to keep their profits high. If its isn't written in the warranty or in the lease, its just not there. Wally World tires at the required tread depth meets the verbage in most cases. On the flip side, if the leasing company sticks some of that crap in there, you are bound to it.

My advice: read all the paperwork before you sign anything.

I don't lease but I remember there was a lot of information about what is required at lease end in the information that came in the box from mini. Not the thermos box, the other one with the car bingo, and the pen and the journal. I think they just have to be leagel (minimum tread) tires as mentioned.
