Damn rodents!!!! First I got a whole family of moles in my back yard. Now I have something that thinks my car is a buffet table.....(and yes, I now have a whole box of Bounce dryer sheets here to wrap up the wiring under the hood)

Just for everyone's info, the reason the rodents are eating the plug wires and the wiring in general in the newer cars is because all of the wires insulation is made with partial recycled food......so to the rodents, it's basically a free-for-all buffet under the hoods of most cars

 

Get a .22 and resolve the issue.

 

We actually see this more often than you would think. I have also heard cloves keep them away not sure how true that is.

I've had to rewire more underhood fuse boxes than I care to talk about due to rats and mice..

 

Moth ***** also work well. In the engine bay you will not get too much odor residue in the cabin.

 

MICE are repelled by Peppermint oil (soak cotton *****, and a few around the garage and if you want you can place a few under the hood of the car. WARNING your garage WILL smell of peppermint.

For most this would probably be an improvement, good tip!

I'd rather peppermint than parts cleaning chemicals, oil, and cigarette smoke.

I had mine do so much damage they chewed on the clutch line and pulled the clip out. They scratched the underside of the hood and ate the hood insulation. Insurance has to cover it.

I've had four vehicles disabled by rats eating injector wiring. I bought the tape which came a few days ago, and I may consider the 12V model for permanent installation.
