I have done the brake light mod for my 04, this compounds the issue of knowing if my brake lights are out as the rear fogs located just above the turn signals FAR outshine the brake lights.

Is there a way to tell by just looking at the mirrors to tell if they are heated or not?

You'd have to pull off the mirror and see whether or not it has a coil behind it

As for me, my tests were attempted with me standing at the driver door with the Mini in the driveway. To see them in action was foiled by by the built in rules of how many time the main washer squirts.

I have a hard time remembering all these quirky Mini logics. As far as I am concerned, Mini is irrational, impulsive, and rash, and need good parental guidance.

To check for if you have heated mirror. Do a breath test next time you head out the door in the morning, or just observe the mirrors in the first minutes.

No, I just used an Infrared temp gun, started the engine, and the mirror glass temp slowly went up

I started my Mini THIS morning...went to wipe down the windows from all day rain the day before......then the mirrors.......they were warm !!!

Thank you for all the great info as usual.

I would never in a million years think that heated mirrors would be on ALL the time

Why Mini ( BMW) didn't make a button to turn on and off I will never know.....

German engineering at its best ??????
