Saying Goodbye..

This will be my last post, as I traded my 02' yesterday for an 05' Mustang. I really enjoyed the experience of ownership, especially the fun factor of the Mini.

In the end, I got stressed over the number of rattles, software updates, and long drives to Nashville. The last time I spent 4 1/2 hours waiting, even with appointment. I never expected to make so many trips to the dealership in the first years of ownership.

The 05' Mustang is a beautiful car. I traveled to Alabama, just to find one, as they are about as hot as the Minis were two years ago.

I have enjoyed sharing ideas and experiences with you, and hope that all of you continue to embrace your love for God, your Familes, and our Country.

Jimmy

Very nice! I LOVE the sound of that 4.6l V8 rumble...The base GT is a great performance deal at 25K. Are they selling for MSRP?

I have a love/hate feeling for the new Mustang. The original concept car version of this style was great. But they have modified it in a few ways that I think detract from the look. At some angles it looks totally hot, and at others (like the back quarter panel) it looks awful. I also think it should be lowered some, with the option for 18" wheels. I saw one lowered with 19" rims and it looked unbelievable. Overall, I think Ford did a great job on an update that was sorely needed for this car, about a decade ago.

Good luck with the car. The distance too the dealership sometimes is a pain for myself. I think this is one of the weak points of the Mini. Being sold in only a few places, limits the market for the car.

The new mustang is hot, but you should always wait a year until they work the bugs out. Especially with American cars. Everytime some new car from Ford, GM or Dodge comes out they have some kind of rediculous recall on some part they should have perfected fifty years ago. I'm sure they will have far more problems than even the Mini did because they always rush imperfect cars to market. GM likes to do that especially, and just as the car reaches its perfect potential they discontinue it or redesign it.

As if MINI hasn't had any bugs?

Saw the new Mustang doing high altitude testing

on Loveland Pass, CO this weekend. This one was sort of....plain. And yes, that is snow. A-Basin is open, 6 miles down the road, for you skiers...

I test drove the new Mustang V6 the other day and I was 50/50 with it.

I think it looks cool and the interior looks nice however:
No xenons,
No options for sunroof or heated seats
Steering wheel felt really loose
It's a Mustang

Please, I have bought 3 first year Fords. All of them put together have had less problems than my 2nd production year S. Thank goodness it is such a fun car.

Can this new Mustang actually turn? That was always their big problem, they went real fast straight untill you had to turn. I dunno. Pretty dramatically car experience MINI vs Mustang.

They did make some huge improvements in styling...still not my style...but enjoy it.

I love Mustangs also. And the new ones are superb. I'm seriously considering ADDING an '05 GT convertible in the spring. NEVER to replace my MINI, but to compliment it. Always having a MINI as my daily driver is the plan.

I bought a 94 and 95 Mustang GT new. 94 was the new model year. I put over 50k miles on each of them - NOT ONE problem. Never had a repair in 50k miles - oil changes only.

I also put 100k miles on a 1997 Escort (I know its new owner - it now has 120k miles and going strong). That too was a first model year. All I did in 100k miles was change the oil, brakes and tires. NOTHING broke - and I even submerged it under water. I got caught in a bad storm and went down a flooded street. Other than the car not starting for one full day, it was fine. I have no reservations about getting a Mustang in the spring.

the new mustangs look hot.

and on american cars and defects. I have only taken my sunfire in to have the fog lights fixed, and for a recall where they resealed the headlight wiring harness.

but he is right on pulling cars in their prime, despite the age of the J-body platform cavaliers are selling like hot cakes now they have the ecotec engine in em, but will be discontinued in 06' for the more pricey cobalt

ENJOY YOUR NEW MUSTANG!!!!!!

Thanks All,

I have driven the new stang around 400 miles so far. Lots of rubber necking (just like when the Mini was new). The car is AWESOME! I do wish I could have kept the Mini for my daughter, as she misses it terribly, but as a working man, I could not afford both payments.

I appreciate all of your well wishing and will always grin evertime I see a Mini on the road.

Jim
