Considering all the hauling around of boxes I do, I am interested in the boot mat extension I saw at Mini Mania...
Does anyone have this, and if so, what do you think?
I really would like to protect my seats (even if it is the back of them).

I don't know exactly what they are selling at MiniMania but I got the OEM boot mat extension and it works fine. The fit is perfect. The only thing I don't like is that I have to remove it when I put the seats back up. I was hoping for something that I could leave in either way.

 

do you have to remove it completely to put the seats back up? i saw one a long time ago and was thinking of getting one. the only thing i remember is that it blocks the release that drops the seat...

 

Yes, it blocks the release used to lower the seats. It also blocks the latches on the upper, outside edges. The portion that blocks the latches almost looks like it was designed to be cut away. However, if you cut it away and put the seats up, I don't know how you'd ever get the seat back down since you wouldn't be able to reach the release.

There are also 4 mysterious strips of velcro on there for which I have no idea what the intended purpose would be. It has been a while since I've really looked at this thing. I'll try to take another look in the next few days and let you know if I figure out anything.

 

Thanks for all the help. I did see on Mini Mania, that the velcro is how you "attach" the extension to the seat?? JVW, are you just laying your extension on top?

I really would like one that just stays on...up or down.
