Um...*cough*cough*...I'd say, if you read my post above, there are at least THREE of us!

what a great day to be alive....

Sniff sniff.....okay....ROFL thanx

Seriously though, I understand ya'lls annoyance with the term (cringe) Mini Coop.

I had someone correct me awhile ago, and ever since I've been pretty good about using the "proper" term. In fact i corrected someone just today when they wanted to use the term "Mini Coop" lol
I informed them that the proper term is, "MINI"

ahhh....'tis great to be alive. lol

I've gone crazy, be back in 5 minutes

HELLO!!!
LOL Been really busy the last two days and haven't had a chance to post.
NO, i didn't get to test drive the car. I got pretty sick yesterday and stayed home. Two tylenol and two Aleeve later, I was better. lol. (not taken at the same time mind you!) (ew) My couch became my very best friend. lol
I felt really bad because my parents and I were going to make it a big fun day driving up to SLO to test drive the car and then come home. But, I had to cancel. I really hope that Car salesman doesnt think that I am a flake. I really do want to try it!!! I also found out that the car is a manual which is something I've never really driven on public streets before. I driven my best friends little honda at a park, and my aunt's truck on the highway in Oregon, but SLO has all those one way streets. It kinda made me nervous...... .....I'm hoping that either mi padre will take me out to drive or one of my friends. lol....sorry to disappoint all of ya'll !!!!

Hey Songbird,
Hope you've had a chance to test drive the car. I'm a soon to be owner and researched for quite a while before finally pulling the trigger, so I understand where you're at.
I really think it may be worth it to go for the new car unless you're really able to pull off a sweet deal. In my case it wasn't an option because I wanted the convertable and those are routinely going for over MSRP second-hand (not really used since often bought with intent for resale). There may be more people going for upgrades, but my experience was similar to yours in that I found very little difference in price between new and used.
The benefits of new include being able to personalize the car from the manufacturer (and there are lots of styling options that come standard, certainly more than the average car) and the obvious things like not having to worry if the last guy knew what they were doing behind the wheel.
I got lucky in that one of my local dealers seems to have a national profile and offers perks like pick up and drop off of the car and a loner, etc. There are also some interesting financing options from the dealer that may help soften the blow, although there will be a small price to pay in the interest rate which will almost invariably be somewhat worse that you can do privately.
Either way, hope it all works out. Look forward to your ongoing saga.

If my life was a book it would be a National Best Seller

HA! Ongoing saga! Good phrase.....it cracks me up when a dealership tells me that 19,000 is a good price for a MINI. Now mind you, that may be a good deal and I"m just stupid. BUT, as a young person trying to make a living in the world, I must say that 19,000-23,000 or more is just not affordable for me. I work part time. True i don't have many bills to pay, but STILL....come on.....that's alot of payment each month, plus insurance, plus gas....sheesh..it's scary....I'll find the right deal sometime...its just going to take some looking.... but isn't half the fun the hunt? lol....Thanx for all the encouragement though everyone!! and thanx for the well wishes on feeling better, I am much better now...

You will find that MINIs hold there value very well. That is good for us that already own one, but makes it tough for those that want to buy. I paid MSRP for my fully loaded '04 MC so it came to about $23,000. When compared to other new cars, the MINI provides alot of features for the money. From what I am seeing in the papers, I could sell my '04 with about 22K miles for just over $20,000, so it has not depreciated much at all. Hope that helps with your decision.

Hello MINI people...wow i haven't been to this website in almost 2 months....geezo...well a lot has been happening..got a new job...blah blah blah...

anyway...i'm in the works for a deal for a MINI....it's a yellow mini with a white top and a big wite swirl on the side....found it on auto trader....it's really cute.... got preapproved for a loan, but am waiting to see the car and drive it...techinically i'm waiting for the seller to contact me back about my offer for out the door pricing and then we'll take it from there. lol. It's a 5 speed...*GASP* i've never driven a manual before so this will be funnay~! but anyway i'mi really excited....i don't know until i sit in the car and drive it if it will be the "one" but you never know....i'm still up in the air about the MINI cars for me.... I was thinking of a larger vehicle and then i came back to the mini when i saw one here in town...it was SOOOOO cute black and white...but it was an '04 and Lord knows that i cant afford it...They want 24,000.....lol good price for someone out there who makes a million dollars and hour but not for a part time worker and student! Keep ya'll posted~
