After nearly 11 anxious weeks since I put the deposit on my new Mini Cooper S, my new baby is now home...healthy and happy!!! Since the nearest MINI dealer is over 100 miles from my house, and I have yet to see one in my area, we turned plenty of heads and were the target of many pointing fingers. Get used to people pointing and staring at you....it really is cool. They look and point because you are new and different, but they don't know the half of it!!!! That is is a little perk that was unexpected. I expected to be thrilled to be motoring along in my new baby, a constant but somewhat restrained smile on my face(break-in... ) I just didn't expect the whole world to be watching, but they were. What a glorious 240 miles we logged today...getting to know each other...My MINI (yet un-named) felt much more solid and powerful than the demos I had driven, all the while under 4500 rpm, and I am delighted. When I accidently discovered the hidden stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel, I couldn't help but convince my girl that the radio had a mind of its own...I'll pay for that one! For those of you still waiting, hang in there....you won't be disappointed, and everyone will be watching!!!

You should know that the feeling you have now doesn't go away. I'm 4000 miles into the car and can't imagine driving anything else. We just recently ordered the second one so some day soon we'll be a two MINI family.

The guys at BMW and at the MINI plant in Oxford are my heros. They have given me something I didn't have much of before, , , irrationality, and I love it.
