Dealer programable options?

When I purchased my 2004, I was given the opportunity to have a number of changes programmed in for free since it was to my standards. Classic MINI is telling me that this is no longer the case for 2005 and that I have to pay them to program anything, is there truth to this?

That should be part of dealer prep. My MA at Otto's Mini near Philadelphia asked me one day during a phone call. She wrote down my preferences and said that they would be programmed as a part of dealer prep.

i had a very hard time getting them to acknowledge you could even program more than just the driving lights & pathway lights. i even had to send them the data from the 2004 manual and the mini2 forum. i think this was because my MA was new. it is frustrating though, because when i picked it up yesterday i found out there were other options he didn't know/tell me about.i still absolutely love the car though =)

History has shown that each dealer treats the "programmable" options different. Some charge and some don't, but we were told back in 2002 and with our new 2005 that the "first" time it is supposed to be free. Anything after that, they charge.

And yes it's true, some MA's are NOT knowledgeable about ALL of the options available. Most of the options are in the manual, but it pays to read the threads here and on other boards to discover them all...

Chow!

I was told that the first programming was free but there would be a charge for anythng after that. However, I asked for a minor programming change at my one year service and was not charged for it. For sure, there should be no charge for the initial progamming.

After some prodding, I got the MA to get it programmed. His excuse that the car was prepped previously.
