Dealer Installed Non-JCW parts?
Hi everyone, was looking at buying a used Mini Cooper S R53. Apparently when the car was purchased new, it had non JCW parts installed as part of some dealer package. Does anyone recognize this or have any familiarity? I have no idea what kind of ecu upgrade that was done. Any idea on the total amount of power the kit would add? Thanks-

I am familiar with Promini and Borla but not SSX. The JCW would have had 380 injectors and the head is a little different with a 210 HP rating. The dealer package above was not cheap and even without the head and injectors, the 15% pulley (JCW was around 12%) would add more boost. I would think the car would be up towards 200 HP as it was tuned.
Would think others will chime in.

When was the package installed?
The cold air intake by BMP Racing was one of the earliest ...
Back in the day Randy Webb was traveling the country installing reduction pulleys for $400 (pulley included).
Early tunes were offered by Shark Injector or Unichip.
Pretty pricey package for bolt ons

I'm basically buying the now, as long as it passes an inspection. I will be the third owner, and the second owner had all the original purchase documents-and it honestly looks like that package was installed at delivery to the initial buyer, similar to the dealer installed JCW kits, because it has all the salesman cards stapled on.

It is rare, but some dealers back in the day would install aftermarket parts. I would agree that the tune if any on it is likely a shark injector tune. If so I would actually remove it as they were too aggressive on the timing. Otherwise the other parts are fine.

Not sure it is a shark tune for sure though. Will try calling the dealership Monday to find out more info. Car has 62k miles with no apparent problems but I haven't seen it; and am going to have it checked out by a local shop. Anything I should ask they look at other than the usual precheck? And should I be worried about that tune being on for that long?
