R50 Bumper on an R53?

So about an hour ago on the interstate some idiot let a ton of foam... FOAM, fly out of their truck. I happened to run over some and it really did some damage to my front bumper trim pieces, valance, and side spoilers look like poop. It also pushed the skid plate halfway to the rear of the car.

Anyways, I have an immaculate R50 bumper, same color, just laying on the shelf. Anyone know if the 2 are interchangeable? I'll try to get pictures tomorrow.

IT WAS ONLY A 5X6ish PIECE OF FURNITURE FOAM! Really did a good job wrecking my front bumper!

Edit: Or maybe now would be a good time to invest in this Duraflex Vader Bumper? I like it. Seems to cover the entire bottom half of the bumper too!?

So guessing the R50 front bumper was originally for your 02 ?

Attaching points to body are same.
Front Side markers are the same.
The lower grilles are different, you will have to order one of those.
Order up some expandable clips too, even if you don't use them all, good to have
spares.
Lower front lip spoiler, and the black texture side trim is different too.
The 02 front bumpers also have large oblong chrome bumper-etts on either side, do you have those ? If not there will be a series of slots exposed for them to snap into.

IF, you lack those parts...( could add another $300.00) IMO, maybe good time to upgrade the front bumper to Aero bumper which has larger lower grille in comparison to the R50 allowing more air through for cooling of radiator and condenser.

Also, I hit something similar on interstate that destroyed my Aero bumper....I filed a claim with my insurance company. They paid it. They tried to surcharge my insurance since there was no other vehicle involved. I filed an appeal. Took 6 months to get in and the case was found in my favor since I was travelling at lawful speed and not doing anything that would push fault my direction.

Food for thought.

GL!

Yup it was from my '02.
It's pretty much prestine condition.
I don't like it being so enclosed though, restricting airflow to the radiator/engine compartment. That's a huge downside.

So here we go:
  • Repair my broken bumper.
  • Use R50 bumper, spend $100+ for side trim pieces...
  • Get the above mentioned Vader bumper (I likey)
  • Get the aero bumper, seems most pricey option?

Gray Raven, you've never steered me wrong. Any thoughts on the Vader bumper? It seems very aerodynamic and would allow a ton of sure to flow through. Big plus. And it's pretty cheap.

Not sure what to do...?confused:

Thanks!

One down side I see is that's a very "aggressive" style front bumper and may not blend in well with current set up.

There's potential of a $lippery $lope requiring the purchase and painting and special fitting of their side skirts and rear bumper to finish it off.

However, if I had my heart set on the vader front bumper, I'd probably do so with intentions of purchasing these side skirts to match from Aaron at Out Motoring...The Vader ones may be too over the top.

Side Skirts

Then at some point, $$ the black OEM 2006 GP1 trim for the back bumper ( 3 pieces ) from ECS Tuning....it will mate right up with your rear bumper and make it look a bit more aggressive but again, not too much.

Center rear trim

Left side piece

Right side piece

Some might say one would also then need to have the wheel well moldings painted to match, but the OEM GP1 body kit isn't like that, and to me flows just fine.
