The service history would be an asset as well, and not just what some web site has to say but hard copys. If that request gets a negative response of any kind, I'd keep looking.
Today i looked on cooper s from local adds.
1.
There was an issue with steering, when i turned it to end of left revs dropped and get back to iddle in 1 second and abs and orange triangle indicators turned on and back to off. And steering wheel almost blocked for couple of second and than it was back to normal, but 2 indicators and dropping revs you get always when steering wheel is turned left or right to the end!
2.
Engine worked fine, revs were idle, but throttle response was at first the same as in turbo with turbo lag, if you click on throtle a little bit slower than motor response. And in exaust at iddleing if you listen to roring sometimes a tact was missed, but that ive noticed at normal cars also, so i dont know if this is a problem.
Revs at iddleing were not jumping up and down on rev meter but if you lisen youve noticed a little bit higher or lower frecuencys every 10 seconds.
3.
wather expansion tank had white lines. like it said on youtube
4.
rubber on struct bearing of chock had a little crack in rubber
5.
belt tensioner was jumping for about 1 mm that was seen on spring, so i dont know if this is also a problem.
6.
thermostate i didnt noticed any leaks
The car is a lot cheaper from others and i know that grandma wasnt driven it but i think that you quickly throw 1-2000$ in it

I don't know if you (Markobb) like to do your own wrenching and repairs. But if you do, you'll be much happier with a Gen 1 MCS. With a decent set of tools and some research and knowledge, you can do your own repairs, and you'll get to know your MINI intimately.
The car you looked at is over 10 years old, and likely has over 100K on it. A lot of the issues you mentioned above are simply wear items and not too difficult or expensive to replace - if you do it yourself.
