Saying Goodbye...

Hey Everyone,

Last week marked my 2nd year of ownership of my Mini. Yesterday, I decided to sell the car and order a new 05' mustang. I have enjoyed reading all of yours posts here and have from time to time posted myself. Although I still believe the Mini is the most fun car I have ever owned, it has also been the one to cause me the greatest stress.

Although my car has been reliable, I have gotten tired with having to take entire days off from work to have it serviced 50 milse away. I have also grown weary of changing gears. I intend to sell "her" rather than trade. If any of you are interested, I will place the car for sale in the marketplace section of NAM.

Once sold, I will relinquish my username if Mark wants to make it available for someone else. I think it's kind of cool. I thank all of you for your friendship.

Coop.

Sorry to see you depart...Being 100 miles from my dealer I know what it is like to lose days at work...I lost three and a half days this year. I expected to when I bought the car, so I've considered them an opportunity to get some more driving in, borrow a car from the dealer, and do some shopping in the big city!
Best of luck with your new car.

One one the joys of retirement is being able to make the 250 mile trip to my MINI dealer without worrying about missing work. There is a Ford dealer 5 miles from me and I tried to like the Focus SVT enought to buy it before I bought my MINI. Didn't work of course.

If the 05 Mustang looks as good as the pictures I've seen Ford has a huge hit on their hands. If you're gonna do retro, do it right.

Cooperman - good luck with the new Mustang! I too like the looks of the new one. The MINI is not for everybody, so I understand your decision... No need to be frustrated with a car. Happy Motoring in your new wheels!..

Chow!

You guys don't understand ,do you. When you grow weary of changing gears its time to commit suicide, not sell your car. Why not just trade it in for an orthopedic wheelchair. How old are you guys?

Just be ready for people to point and laugh at the automatic in the Mustang.

The 2005 Mustang should have plenty of power and is a great looking car. I was very impressed when I saw it at the auto show.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

The Mustang is a sharp car. The local Ford dealer had 50 red ones all lined up in a row-2 years ago they were all yellow. Red must be the 05 color Have fun with your new car

Just cause you won't have a MINI doesn't mean you'll stop Motoring. Enjoy!

FORD = Fix Or Repair Daily!

Seriously I have had it with Fords. Their lousy dealerships and unreliable cars drove me away from the blue oval emblem many, many years ago. One thing for sure... Ford will never get another hard earned penny from me!!!

Back in March I saw the '05 Mustang GT at the Ft Lauderdale International Autoshow. Very sharp car and it seems to be a worthy replacement to the 1978-2004 Ford Fairmont platform that powered the current Mustang. The '05 Mustang is a throw back to the orginal late 1960's fastbacks.

One thing to keep in mind though, is that Ford Motor Company RARELY launches a first year model that doesn't have it share of teething problems, so don't think that the grass is "greener" on the other side because it not always is. So don't be surprised when the first crop of problems and factory recalls pop up in your new Mustang.

Honestly, I would have waited another year to let the "guinea pigs" do the QC testing of the new Mustang and get a more reliable second year production copy, but hey that's me.

as someone with a mid year 02 MCS, yes there are problems everywhere in any manufacturer's product...don't let the naysayers effect you.

I have also sat in the 05 GT and it is one bad *** machine. If it performs to its claims and the early track reviews you are going to have a different kind of fun. More power to you.....literally

It's still got a live axle in the rear...couldn't handle that much better without a rough ride. Having owned a fox bodied stang with konis, svo springs, global west subbies, I can attest to good handling..with a rough ride. But mustangs have strong motors and a strong aftermarket.

A good buy could be the last year camaro SS. That's a car with some serious grunt to it.

I really liked the concept car that the '05 was based on. After the '05 production car came out, I was a little displeased with the results. It doesn't quite look as muscular as the concept car. Mostly in the rear and the way that it sat. Also the roof looked a little higher in the production than the concept.

I don't think the two cars can be compared. Good Luck!

The front of the '05 looks real nice but the C pillar looks a bit strange with the window placement.

I appreciate the well wishing. I have to wait 6 weeks or so since I ordered my car. I realize the first year of a new design may have typicals QC problems. I have owned (2) 66' models before and really wanted the retro look. I kinda expect Chevy to do the same thing with camaro. Yesterday was the official "launch" from Ford (National Ad. Campaign begins). I ordered a Mineral Grey V-6 (GT was an additional $6,000)
