Tag light covers installation

This is a stupid question, but I tend to get really confused with the simplest crap. All of the tag light covers on both my car and my dad's have clips broken and so I ordered 4 new ones from ECS. I can't get them to go back in. In either orientation, I cannot get the spring clip to lock to anything, or the other clip at the other side. Which way and how do you install these things? Been messing around with them for like 15 minutes without success.

No stupid questions, it's a little bit of a pain to get those back in but it can be done. Gen 1 and Gen 2 MINI are listed, you want gen 1.

You can see in that thread the orientation they go in, spring side goes in first then at about a 15-20 degree angle you then push back on the lens with the spring pushed up againts the edge and drop the other side in flat, then let off.

So the spring goes in on the right? There's no room on the right with the mount for the bulb. It just doesn't want to snap in.

Yep, follow the oem part. Its tight but can be done by making sure the tabs for the bulb and the bulb are centered. Then work the spring tab in at an angle while using the spring side to push back and gain more room.
