I just got a mini cooper a couple months ago and the tint on my windows is really scaring me. At night time I can't see out very well, if a vehicle is coming at me from the side with no headlights there is no way I will see it. I have cut people off multiple times not knowing they were there and if they hadn't slammed on their brakes I would have hit them. I definitely can't back into my driveway without rolling my windows down. I'm so heavily reliant on my mirrors and spot mirrors I am afraid not being able to use them at night is going to cause a wreck.

So my question is how do I tell if this is manufacture or third party tint and if it is manufacture is there a way to reduce it? I just need my two side windows on the doors to be not as dark so I can see my mirrors clearly.

It is not factory tint. Take it to a pro (high quality) tint place. They can remove the dark and install a lighter shade or keep it off completely.

Here in California I have been busted twice for tint on my door windows and have had to have it removed. It took them about 15 minutes to remove the tint from both door windows. The 2nd time I left it off completely. They did not charge me to remove it since I had it done by them.

I kind of miss the look, but do not miss the aggravation.

BTW, it is not possible to lighten tint. You just have to remove the dark and put a lighter shade on.

 

Alright, I will check around on prices. I live in Arkansas and they aren't very strict on tinting so depending on price and how it looks without tint at all on those two windows I might get a lighter shade.
