Milltek concerns

With the announced sale of Milltek exhausts by ECS Tuning, I am again tempted to pull the trigger on one, but I can't get beyond the issue of the exhaust not centering in the exhaust aperture in the bumper. One would think that as long as this has been an issue, a top notch manufacturer would have addressed and corrected this defect. Anyone know if this is a problem with the Stratmosphere copy of the Milltek?

Is it not something you can adjust just by tweaking one of the exhaust hangers a little bit? It sounds like a pretty easy problem to fix....I don't think I would let it be the determining factor if I was thinking about a Miltek exhaust.

Simple fix really. Just a little adjustment and you should be fine. I've bought exhaust kits that didn't line up 100% just nature of the beast sometimes

You just need a little adjustment sometimes, with all aftermarket exhausts some are just a little off from batch to batch . My factory JCW sound exhaust was off a hair to the bumper when I bought it from MINI and I just moved the mount a hair, it was fine then.

If you have any issues I am always here to help.

I've ordered from ecs a good bit of times and everything exhaust related fit my vw cc with no issues at all DP & mid pipe. Great customer service whenever I'd make a call. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again.

im sure its a nice system. I did hear word on the street though that Dinan is releasing their system for sale shortly with shipments by end of month, might be worth checking into

We are offering the same sale on the Milltek exhaust also.
https://www.waymotorworks.com/milltek/

But for the R53 we always use our Stratmosphere system as the build quality is just that much better.

With aftermarket exhaust there is always some kind of adjustment as every car is made just a hair different, and over the years wear and flex do have an effect on fitment of parts.

I would always stay away from single sided exh as they always fit bad, or will after they've been on for awhile.

How do the aftermarket exhaust compare to the factory JCW exhaust? I keep going back and forth between just keeping my JCW, or stepping up to a Statosphere of Miltek. I want a little more burble and pop out of the exhaust, but I don't want it much louder than the JCW is. As far as actual power goes.....are the aftermarket ones any better than the JCW exhaust?

Milltek was perfect on my Justa (04) and I grabbed it from ECS. The only issues I've been trying to resolve is the CEL related to the aftermarket CAT. I just can't seem to win regardless of what CAT I use even after 2 new 02 sensors and resetting adaptations. Since I was in Sugar Hill, Ga I wanted to give WMW a shot at resolving but I ran out of time before moving to Puerto Rico. I'll be doing an S swap here in PR since the island has a cult-like MINI Cooper following.

Any exhaust shop worth going to can tweak mounts to make sure it's centered properly.

I just installed the non-resonated Stratmosphere cat-back exhaust on my 05 R53 from WMW. The fit and finish is excellent and the install went smoothly without any glitches. I had 1-ball exhaust before which was ok but had a lot of raspiness. The Strat exhaust sounds much deeper than stock or 1-ball until you get above 4000 rpm when it gets a lot louder (but a very good louder!). I haven't been highway driving yet so I can't speak to the drone issue with the non-resonated Strat. Highly recommend it and you can't go wrong with Way.

Finally had a chance for a road trip. The non-resonated Stratmosphere sounds great. You can certainly hear it on the highway, but I would definitely not call it a drone.
